This was the third time in a row that Gap had featured on this list. According to Alex Brigham, Executive Director of the Ethisphere Institute, "Gap Inc. has proven to be one of the world leaders in upholding high ethical standards, making it a true standout in its industry. The competition for the 2009 World's Most Ethical Companies was very strong and we applaud Gap Inc. and their genuine commitment to ethical leadership and social responsibility."6 In 2009, Gap was also among Corporate Responsibility Officer's (CRO)7 Best Corporate citizens8 and featured on the list at the 24th position (as against the 61st position in 2008).
